First Aid Course FAQ
Due to Covid restrictions we have modified the way we deliver courses. Due to the popularity of our new ‘enhanced online learning’ method, people now have 2 options for how they wish to complete their desired course.
Both of these options are Nationally Recognised delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909
1. FACE TO FACE
This is of course the more traditional familiar method of completing a First Aid course. Learning Face to Face with a trainer delivered over a short day. This course still differs a little in that it requires a small amount of video content to be completed (timing of this varies depending upon the course and the person doing it) prior to attending the day’s course. By participants preparing for the course by completing this pre-course short at home component, we have been able to condense the days training and these face to face courses are more time efficient than a traditional Face to Face course.
2. ENHANCED ONLINE LEARNING (with ASSESSMENT-ONLY PRACTICAL)
Participants spend a longer period of time completing training at home in their own time prior to attending a short assessment with a trainer. Assessment lengths for these are reflected on the booking calendar and can vary from 40 minutes to 6 hours depending on your course. The online training consists of watching simple video modules that you can pause, re-watch and take notes if you require. Many have found this very helpful and a convenient way to complete a course. A short online multiple choice assessment also follows.
Please click the course type icon on our website home page to select the course you require or select the same from the drop down menu at the top of the page. You can view course and assessment availability by hitting the “BOOK NOW” button to bring up the calendar with available courses and dates. Once you have decided and made your selection, you will be prompted for payment. On successful transaction you will be forwarded access to your pre-course/video links via Allens Training RTO 90909 (of whom we are a training partner).

Yes, it does! All of our First Aid Courses are comprehensive first aid courses which covers both general first aid along with HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; the CPR course, which must be renewed annually to stay current, whereas the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting and HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in Remote or Isolated Site are only renewed every 3 years – which is why the CPR course: HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, is provided separately.

If a hard copy of the certificate is required, this NEEDS to be requested in advance when you make your booking. An extra $5 will be added for this. This gives you CPR (1 year), First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis for 3 years (depending on your employer’s requirements), which is what you need for your ACECQA approval.
For childcare educators that just need the Asthma & Anaphylaxis, we also offer the 22578VIC Course in first aid management of anaphylaxis and 22556VIC Course in the management of Asthma risks and emergencies in the workplace, but these are only available as group onsite bookings and your Childcare Centre or Outside Hours School Care Centre will need to ‘contact us’ through our group bookings page or call us to get a quote for such a booking.

It is a requirement of all our first aid and CPR courses that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor. To be certified and complete any of our certificates, whether it be HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, HLTAID003 Provide First Aid, HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting or HLTAID005 Provide First Aid in Remote Situations, you must be able to meet this requirement.
Parts of our courses include getting down on your knees for CPR and recovery position. Kneeling is a key part of the physical component of our courses- if you cannot get onto your knees, we recommend waiting until you are physically able to do so.
Pregnant Mums often contact us to ask if they can complete the course. If you are Pregnant you are more than welcome to do one of our First Aid or CPR courses but we would recommend you do so prior to your final trimester if you are able. If not you are very welcome but keep in mind that CPR can be quite tiring. We occasionally get Pregnant Mums who want to come in prior to the course and trial doing compressions on our Manikins. If you would like to do this just contact us via email or phone and this can be arranged no problems. So far every Mum that has taken this step has ended up feeling more confident and has completed their course with no issues.
If you have a cold or flu or the signs and symptoms of a cold such as coughing, an infection in your nose, sinuses, or throat (or even a mild temperature) we would prefer you book approximately 2 weeks after such symptoms have subsided as we need to protect the health of our clients.
If you have a health issue that does not affect your ability to perform CPR uninterrupted for two minutes, however, you are still concerned about aspects of the course, or you have questions regarding the training- please feel free to send us an enquiry via the Contact Us tab on our website, or you can call us at 07 38726777
Once you book your public course date we will not issue any refunds if you do not attend on the day or have not completed your pre-course learning. However, this can be reviewed on a case by case basis, depending on extenuating circumstances such as medical or family emergencies. You may change your course date to another date provided you have informed us 2 days /48 hours in advance of your original booked date. Any alternate date is subject to availability and must be taken within 2 months of your original booking date. A rescheduling fee of $15 for CPR, or $25 for all other courses will be incurred if no noticed is given and you need to reschedule on the day of your course. (Please see our full Cancellation & Refund Policies).
All training courses and assessments are delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd. RTO 90909, one of Australia’s largest and most experienced providers of first aid, health and safety training. As Allens Training Pty Ltd. is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), all first aid, CPR qualifications and certificates My First Aid Course provide are nationally recognised. If you are looking for the Nationally recognised logo you will find this on the Allens Training Pty Ltd. site above.
Depending on who your health insurer is, the type of fund you have and the level of cover, you may be able to claim your first aid course. You will need to contact your health insurer to see if this is an option available to you.
There may be some terms and conditions to claim your first aid/ CPR course, e.g. the training must be nationally recognised, and must be provided by a government-accredited Registered Training Organisation (RTO). To see what is required to claim your course, contact your health insurer.
As My First Aid Course is a partner of Allen’s Training, we provide nationally recognised courses and as Allen’s Training is an RTO, we fall under their registration. If there are any specific requirements and you are confused as to whether My First Aid Course meets them, please contact us at 07 38726777 or make an enquiry online via our ‘Contact Us’ tab.7
There isn’t a minimum age limit, if your child is under 13, we would ‘prefer’ an adult to accompany them or if they are over 13 they are fine to complete the course by themselves- however, parents/guardian’s/caregivers will need to fill out a consent form for anyone under 18 – which will be sent to you at the time of booking. For your child to gain a certificate they will just need a unique email address and a USI number which are both available online.
A physical requirement of our accredited courses is the ability to perform CPR uninterrupted for two minutes and roll an adult into the recovery position whilst on your knees – if this is not possible, we are able to provide a Certificate of Participation rather than a Statement of Attainment. First aid and CPR are important skills and we highly recommend learning these skills, if you wish to learn. However, if you are younger (e.g. under 13) or older (and you cannot kneel down) you are allowed to come and join the course, just without completing the required assessment. Doing this you will be able to learn about CPR and first aid and use it in your daily life- you just won’t have a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.
First Aid and CPR certificates sadly have been known to be faked and a ‘valid certificate’ will be required by your workplace/school/university.
Any certificate validation questions can be addressed by Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.
Alternatively, please contact us at 07 3872 6777 or make an enquiry online via our ‘Contact Us’ tab.
An unverifiable certificate undermines the reliability of the first aider in the community, is illegal, and it is certainly unethical, and compromises safety.
YES – we understand that mistakes can happen and you may have booked into the incorrect course. Due to this, we are happy to arrange an ‘upgrade’ for you from the one you completed to the one that you need.
With this, the upgrade session must be completed within THREE weeks of the original booked course date. This ensures that your skills are current and up to date with what information is required.
UPGRADE FEES:
To upgrade from your older unit to the required unit will incur an administration fee. This covers the cost of the additional training itself as well as the issuing of a new certificate.
$80.00 : HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation to HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
$77.00 : HLTAID011 Provide First Aid to HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting.
$230.00 : HLTAID011 Provide First Aid to HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in Remote or Isolated Site.
Unfortunately no, we are unable to accept the components you have completed through the alternate RTO. This is due to the fact that we did not witness and assess the tasks that were completed through this RTO.
So we can ensure that you have been taught the correct information and are competent as per the course requirements you will need to complete the full course through us if you wish to upgrade to the required unit.
